BIO

Hi - my name is James Keitch and I am PGA Golf Professional based at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club in Taunton, Somerset.

My golfing career started at Taunton Vale Golf Club, under the watchful eye of my father and Head Professional Martin Keitch.

I would go to the golf club nearly every day playing, practicing and helping my father around his thriving golf shop. I knew that I wanted to be involved in the game for the rest of my life.

After completing an apprenticeship in achieving sporting excellence at Richard Huish College. I decided to take my first steps towards my dream and turned professional, in 2011 starting my Foundation Degree in Professional Golf, delivered through The PGA and the University of Birmingham.

In 2015 I completed my degree and became a fully-fledged Class A Member of The Professional Golfers Association, at the age of 21 -becoming one of the youngest Qualified Professionals in the country.

Since turning professional I have been on a relentless pursuit to become the best possible golf coach, delivering over 1000 lessons, spending time with some of the brightest minds in the game and in countless hours of research.

My Coaching Philosophy

My philosophy is quite simple - before I can give my students the best possible session, I need to understand exactly what makes their golf brain tick!

Do they like technical thoughts? Are they a feel-based player? Do they like to just be given a task they can relate to? Or simply work best when they are just given information

Once this has been established Its then a case of creating the best possible impact conditions for a player to achieve their particular goals. The most important of these factors being the club-face and strike.

We will often find that inefficiencies at impact stem from a reaction to the club-face's orientation throughout the swing.
